Ten tiny fingers. Ten tiny Toes. Precious Caleb James was a joy to hold. I can’t get enough of newborns. I’ve had some quality time with four of my own in the last 5 years, but still haven’t had enough. There is just something about the perfection of a fresh child. Continue Reading →

Lessons in Film Photography – Ugly photos

I received the Canon EOS3 in the mail on Monday, twisted on my Sigma 30mm 1.4 and loaded a roll of Lomography 400 film and started shooting inside on manual and manual focus since I hadn’t calibrated the autofocus with my eyes yet. The results were poop! haha! $10 worth of poop!!!! Continue Reading →

Collin Beck – Professional Headshots | Charlotte Photographer

I shot Collin on Saturday for a few minutes in NODA. It was fun to use some of the artsy walls as backdrops. He said he needed some portraits for business, casual and a nice shot for his mom (I thought that was cute). Continue Reading →

The first two images are of Noah on the left side of the tree where the sun was peaking through a tree in front of him. I underexposed it 1 stop and edited in VSCO and added a couple actions in photoshop. Continue Reading →

“Give them Candy and Let Them Run” – Urban Barn Photoshoot | Charlotte Family Photographer

I was given the location for the “Urban Barn” from a local photographer in here in Charlotte. The historic barn is right off of the road, so it’s not as secluded as it appears and sadly, while we were there, city workers were putting the posts in for a fence which will completely surround the structure. Continue Reading →

Women’s Worship

Our church has some very good teaching, not only from the pulpit, but from women as well. Women teaching other women the Word of God. The Anchor Study this year has been so good; we are studying 1Timothy and gaining a deeper love for the church. Continue Reading →

What is VSCO film?

I guess having a blog where I am trying to document using film in photography and using the term “VSCO film” may be confusing to those who aren’t familiar. So this will answer all of your questions and show you the before an afters of using VSCO. Continue Reading →

Sunshine

So I had a breakthrough today!!!! Whoo hoo for learning things on my own in photography. I figured out that on a sunny day, when the sun is pretty high in the sky, early afternoon, or even noon; the best way to shoot a subject is for the subject to be backlit by the sun and the subject’s shadow is coming towards me. Continue Reading →

february 11-12 weekend

Our weekend at home in pictures, nice weekend of play, work, creating and 15 minutes of sunset window light. I am very much ready for spring and outdoor light. Continue Reading →

First Roll of Kodak Porta 400

I was finally able to use a roll of the beloved Kodak Porta 400 film. Bought one roll for $9.99 and had it processed onto a disc for $7.50 at a local photo lab. I think it would be much more economical to buy in bulk and process in bulk so that I will only have to pay for one or two disks. Continue Reading →

I’m still here!

My end goal is to buy a Contax 645 like my idols Jonathan Canlas, Becky Earl and now (a new favorite) Jose Villa have. Until that happy day comes, I might win the lottery first, I have some digitals to post of Luca. Continue Reading →

first rolls of film in 10 years | Charlotte Photographer

Hope and Union

The name of this little coffee shop in downtown Charleston, SC. I don’t know the meaning behind the name but there was a different kind of atmosphere there. And the barista was so cute.  Anyway, my sisters had been before and said we “had to go”. The froth on the latte was as thick as a marshmallow. Very good. Continue Reading →

A Year in Film Photography

A year in film is my vow for 2012. So long as my tiny piggy bank allows it, I will shoot film over digital as much as I can. I started in film like most people before digital existed. And took a course in college using my grandfather’s (who was a great photographer) Canon AE-1. Continue Reading →
